I was really busy the past few weeks, so I didn't get a chance to write.
BUT THEN! I started writing tonight and it just spilled out everywhere.
So, here is the next part. :)
It turned out that while he was pretty good at handling all the weapons, Jounouchi preferred his fists over anything. And with all those street fights, he was damn good at it.
But apparently not good enough for Kaiba, much like everything he'd ever done in the past.
He insisted that Jounouchi use a gun.
Jounouchi didn't like it, but he definitely knew how to use one. All those years in a gang didn't teach him nothing.
After Kaiba's "training", he was pretty much ready to take on anything, except for worrying about his sister. To alleviate his fears, Kaiba had set up a covert bodyguard for her, and that helped.
Jounouchi's first real-world experience being Kaiba's bodyguard was several months later and had him shadowing the not-quite-so-young-anymore CEO at a press conference. Before that, he'd hadn't really done much and there weren't any current threats to Kaiba's life.
All he had ended up doing was following Kaiba everywhere - hanging out at his house, escorting him at Kaiba Corp... Pretty tame stuff. They had even set up a room for him at the Kaiba mansion, next to Kaiba's room on the right, as Mokuba's was already to his left.
His friends were happy for him, for getting a job that wasn't the dead-end one he had recently been enduring. True to Kaiba's word, he hadn't unnecessarily spilled the beans on his other "job".
This press conference was very important. Kaiba was promoting a new electronic interface for his VR system and the press conference was to be held to answer any and all questions brought on by the release of this new technology.
After being briefed by Kaiba's comprehensive security detail, they prepped for the event.
Kaiba outlined the plan of action, told them exactly what he expected from all them, and after donning his Miguel Caballero suit, they were ready. Everything was set.
Outside Kaiba Corp headquarters, a podium was arranged and filled with microphones from every news broadcasting group available in Domino City. Kaiba was set to speak at two o'clock. Jounouchi wasn't particularly nervous and he was sharp on his game.
"Thank you for joining us today," Kaiba began calmly. Even though he exuded a restrained demeanor, his voice was still lined with great excitement.
"I'm here to talk to you about Kaiba Corp's newest piece of technology - an immersive VR system that will be available for home use. We believe this will revolutionize the way we see the world and we are now incorporating it into several of the Kaiba Land attractions - not just the VR pods. We hope to release it to the public in the upcoming weeks."
"Another application we plan to establish is to incorporate it into Kaiba Corp's future online MMORPG: World of Duel Monsters . We are also keen to implement it in the employment training of highly sensitive electronic instruments."
Kaiba's blue eyes swept across the awed crowd in smug satisfaction. Jounouchi's eyes scanned the crowd for any potential threats, just as the security detail placed around the area did as well.
However, none of them had caught sight of the man in the eighth floor of the adjacent office building.
Shots were fired.
"Shit. I knew something like this would happen," Kaiba growled, ducking behind the podium.
"Good thing you have that fancy-ass bullet proof suit!" Jounouchi yelled at him, as they ran though the corded off section to the equally bullet proof car.
Almost instinctively, he shielded Kaiba as they ran. Despite all his tough talk and threats of leaving when they first started, Kaiba noted that Jounouchi was still gung ho about saving his life. That was good.
"Let's get you the hell out of here!"
He was a bodyguard, but he sure as hell wasn't about to get shot here.
After insuring the CEO was safe on his way, Jounouchi let out a breath of relief as they drove away in the tank-like car.
Later that evening, Kaiba gave his security team hell.
A few months later, they were off to meet with Kaiba Corp's business partners in Europe.
Outside of America, Jounouchi hadn't really traveled the world and he was pretty excited. They were going to stay in France for couple weeks and then make their way to Germany.
He technically couldn't tell his sister or any of his friends which hotels they would be staying in, though that sort of information was hard to keep secret from the public. The fans and the press were always keen to know everything that was going on with the CEO.
So instead, the first night, he filled out a nice postcard to send Shizuka and the others. He'd accumulated a little pile when Kaiba paced into the room.
"Jounouchi."
The bodyguard looked up from his place at the suite desk. "Yeah?"
"Get some sleep."
Jounouchi smirked and let out a snort. "I'd say you're not the boss of me, but ya kinda are."
Then, it was Kaiba's turn to smirk.
"We leave at seven," he said smugly as he turned away and walked to his room.
"Yeah, yeah," he muttered as he signed the card, "Love, Your Brother" and put the stationary away.
Yes! I had to move the plot along. :)
I hope that all my tenses worked out right...
World of Duel Monsters... yeah... I miss WoW.
I learned about the Miguel Caballero's bullet proof suits on this special on the security detail of the US President. It looks pretty nifty.
I also borrowed the tank-car (Cadillac One). I figure with Kaiba's wealth, he can afford those things, too.
I hope someone uses that mysterious sniper. :3
cheeky_duckie: Sorry! I know you're without internet right now... :(
Your piece will be due on the 20th.
