Mar. 8th, 2005 06:44 pm-ponder- How are we going to resolve this, anyway? Like... they screw and then true love? Or Kaiba accepts it? Or they start cohabitating and the dreams go away? Or.. what?
The Beginning of the End
[Ancient Egypt]
"What did you find?" Atemu's voice was cool, though inside he raged. He needed to appear aloof and glittering, judging -- like the sun.
"Great Pharaoh --" The man began, dropping to his knees and then lowering his eyes "...Per-aa..." He swallowed again, his eyes frightened.
And suddenly Atemu had had enough. He rose to his feet on the golden throne, and every head in the majestic court bowed. "Speak!"
The guard froze, and then babbled out something incoherent. The only thing that Atemu caught -- that the court caught -- were the words, "He plots heresy."
And then Atemu knew what he had to do. He dismissed the court -- all but the guards -- and sat in thought. He sat in council with himself until the sun went down, and then he lifted his head as the last rays turned the Palace bloody with their light.
"Bring Seth to me."

Seto woke with a jerk, breathing swift and -- if he had been anyone else -- panicked. He touched his chest, his mouth, then reached to the side haltingly, as if he didn't want to know this answer.
His hand found skin, and he took a deeper breath, letting his pale fingertips smooth over Jou's shoulder.
For a moment.. for a moment he thought he was in his dreams again. He brought his hand back up to his face, running it through his hair, sparing a thought that he was glad they'd cleaned up before collapsing into bed.
But still.
He got up out of the bed, letting sheets slide off his skin as he made his way to the bathroom, turning on the faucet without turning on the light. He splashed cool water on his face, and then looked up at the mirror.
And froze.
A pair of eyes looked back at him -- not just eyes, but those were what caught his attention first. Purple-reddish eyes, strong and somehow sad, arrogant and yet... But the rest of the face went with the arrogance. Sharp chin, strong mouth, gold ornamented and gleaming.
The image haunted him, and for a breath he knew that he had always believed that these dreams were real. That he had always known that the mutt was meant for him.
That he had always known that, in a way, Jono's death -- Atemu's binding -- all of it, had been his fault.
He bowed his head for a silent, miserable moment...
And then looked up again. He met those wise, arrogant eyes with the blazing ice of his own and vowed, if only to himself, that it would not be that way this time.
He had been given a second chance, as it were.
Damn them all if they didn't think he'd use it.
Eheh.. o.< Don't kill me?
